Car Park Crusaders say Blah! to selfish drivers!

The concept of Blah! was recently put into practice by a group of protesters who descended on Soho Square and Oxford Street to shout a resounding Blah! in the face of arrogant, non-disabled drivers who park in disabled parking bays.

The Car Park Crusaders, a group committed to raising awareness of the practice and shaming selfish culprits everywhere, wore t-shirts and carried placards bearing slogans such as: “The war on error – you’re in the wrong space”, “Able bodied, feeble minded”, and “Use the space between your ears, don’t park in ours.

Captain Sensible, leader of the Blah! Party was also there, lending his support, as were representatives from Seabrook Crisps who were approached by the Car Park Crusaders and asked to join forces after they saw the brand’s national TV campaign, based on having the courage to speak out and say Blah! Blah! Blah!

Captain Sensible commented:Blue badge spaces are vital to allowing disabled people to live their lives independently and it’s down right selfish when certain lazy members of society use them to save themselves a couple of minutes. Blah! is all about encouraging people to stand up for what they believe in, and that’s why I was so pleased to be part of the protest. We hope more and more people start doing the same thing for a cause that’s dear to them, whatever it may be.

According to research (Spacehog) 87% of disabled badge holders have experience of non-disabled people parking in disabled bays and the problem is on the increase. According to RADAR, the UK's leading pan-disability campaigning organisation: “Non-disabled people who park in blue badge bays need to recognise the consequences of their actions. These parking bays are designated for disabled people who need them, and everybody should respect that.

"We are glad to support the Disabled Parking Demonstration and encourage as many people as possible to protest against the minority who selfishly limit disabled people's ability to access the places we want to."

A spokesperson for the Car Park Crusaders said:People don’t realise the impact that parking in disabled bays has. They think of it as a minor short cut that makes their lives a bit easier but what they forget is how hard it is to live with a disability. Not being able to park in the designated bays causes physical pain and blinding frustration for genuine blue badge holders and we want to stop it happening once and for all!"

Claire Anderson from Seabrook said:We were delighted to get involved and give a right proper gobful to lazy parking offenders. We think if you believe in something you should speak out –simple, but sadly it’s something people don’t do enough of.”

So please, keep sending in your Blah!s. We do read every single one and the most popular Blah!s form the basis of our manifesto policies. Keep up the good work everyone!
